Café Costal Campesino is a project that focuses on the production and trading of Colombian specialty coffee, which is grown, harvested and developed entirely by victims and former members of the guerrilla from the Colombian Conflict (signatories of the 2016 Peace Agreement with the FARC -EP). We have established a commercial alliance with them in collaboration with the United Nations Verification Mission in Colombia.
We believe that a specialty coffee is not only defined by its quality, but also by being grown fairly and sustainably. That is why, together with the United Nations Verification Mission, the United Nations Multi-donor Trust Fund for the Sustainability of Peace and the United Nations Development Programme, we have created a strategic alliance to promote the production and the sustainable consumption of Colombian specialty coffee in Europe.
This partnership allows us to provide support and opportunities to rural communities that have been affected by decades of conflict. We work closely with farmers, offering them training, technical assistance and access to fair markets. In addition, we promote sustainable and environmentally responsible agricultural practices.
